Markets
Markets are everywhere in La Paz. Give them a street, and someone will move it. There are limitations and regulations, as you will see, but largely the are happy merchants that have something for everyone. Right next to the hotel, going down to an intersection in either direction and down steep alleys, you are in the middle of a burgeoning street or sidewalk market. |
The entrance to one continuous market, but with vehicle traffic and another one, going left from the hotel is for pedestrian traffic only |
I wandered down this one the first evening I checked in. Fascinating. There were things I was interested in, but don't like to shop in the dark and those sellers were not there the next morning. I actually looked for them when I was taking these pictures. |
When I looked closer I saw that little one with her balloon in her mouth, oblivious of anything around her, in her own little world. |
Wandering all the way to the bottom of this alley market, there was this tough lady with official tags around her neck and the logs. A government inspector? At night the market does not end here, but stands continue across the street and descend even more. |
